Just to be clear, never said that I used all of those. Just made quick list of most popular apps to use here :P If I had to guess, over 95% of people here just use WhatsApp.

They all have pretty much same functionality what traditional sms is missing.

And US still has very expensive data plans compared to Finland (I pay 21e/month for unlimited 200mbps data, calls, sms). That could also be one factor why SMS is still used there so much 🤔

For voice calls, most use regular phone calls here, it just works better (and VoLTE/VoWiFi is great addition to sound quality). Apps are only used when you are making video calls.

As for messages, it’s much easier to send images/videos via whatsapp/signal than it’s via SMS. + replies/reactions. Probably main reason why people use apps instead SMS (even while many/most of our plans include unlimited data/sms/calls). RCS added those features IIRC, but why switch to another solution while apps works just fine and most of people already are used to Whatsapp 🤷‍♂️

And most of the people here has Whatsapp installed, so usually you don’t have to guess what app to use :P

Just out of curiosity, how much people still use SMS? I can’t remember last time I sent SMS.

Here in Finland we use mainly Whatsapp, FB Messenger, Telegram or Signal for messaging. Almost no one I know has sent SMS in the last 10 years.

It doesn’t accept banners / popups. When that doesn’t know how to handle things, it just leave it to user to handle.

Most of the time it just works as intended.

IIRC, that doesn’t block cookies, it just blocks cookie warnings.

I personally use Consent-O-Matic nowdays.

I don't care about cookies sometimes broke website.

Never had that issue with Consent-O-Matic which automatically rejects all cookies while still making site usable.

At least with firefox beta, you can create your own collection of extensions and use those. That’s what I do and I can install any extension.

Bonus negative points for games that only check DLC after that button press

Don’t forget games that have you manually press button to dismiss and unlocked DLC.

It’s very fun with games that you buy after few years and have hundred DLC (ex. fighting games) 😅

DataGrip is a very good choice also. And JetBrains products are very good, if you can get a license, I would usually recommend those.

But I just prefer dbeaver because it’s free to use, so I don’t have to worry about license at work or at home 😄

Personally I’ve been using lot of dbeaver for my database needs (mysql, oracle, postgress, apache drill, sqlite) which has a dark mode.

It should also work with sql server, but I’m not sure if is it’s missing some of the tools people need 🤔

Almost every professional developer that I know uses dark mode. Maybe 1% uses light mode and those are people who code in legacy environment.

And for web, you have Dark Reader 🤷 so no bright lights when browsing web.

Additionally, you would have to uninstall and reinstall the app after you’re effectively out of beta.

Or wait until stable version has higher version number than beta and it should updated automatically.

Kyllä, käytin itse eilen viimeksi plussaa kellolla. Eikä vaadi edes nettiyhteyttä plussaan tai maksamiseen. Vaatii toki hitusen kikkailua, mutta onnistuu jos on wear os kello (itselläni samsungin watch 4 classic käytössä).

Näin sen itse laitoin parivuotta takaperin kuntoon:

• Hae plussa mobiilin APK tiedosto (exporttaa jollain työkalulla esim puhelimesta.)
• Asenna se kelloon
• Säädä plussatunnus paikoilleen (voi joutua säätämään ADB:n kautta kellon resoluutiota muistaakseni adb shell wm density 300 (vaihda pienmmäksi/isommaksi jos ei vielä näy), adb shell wm density reset palauttaa muistaakseni normaaliksi)

io-techissä oli kanssa ohjeet miten tuo pitäisi toimia.

Joo se vähän on. Sais ottaa s-pankki keskosta mallia ku nuo kuitenki toiminu jo vuosia noin.

S-mobiilin joutuu avaamaan ainakin vielä erikseen Androidlla että se toimii 🤔

En tiedä toimiiko si erilailla jos käyttäis suoraan s-korttia maksamiseen (tällähetkellä Nordean kortti) ja käyttäisi sitä gpay:n kanssa

Ottaisivat mallia keskon puolelta, jossa on erillinen plussa sovellus Androidilla.

Nyt voin puhelimella JA kellolla maksaa k-kaupassa helposti.

Ensin kassapääte lukee plussan ja sen jälkeen lukee maksun. Yksinkertaista ja nopeaa. Ja on toiminut jo vuosia erinomaisesti.

Toki puhelimen joutuu avaamaan lukituksesta (alle 20e ostokset pitäisi saada ilmankin lukituksen avaamista, mutta se on välillä pettänyt. Ja sormenjälkitunnistimen kanssa toki ei tarvi edes katsoa puhelinta), kellon kanssa joutuu pikanäppäimellä avaamaan google pay sovelluksen, mutta se on todella nopea tapa sekij. Plussa sovellusta ei tarvitse erikseen availla kun toimii automaattisesti taustalla.
