Maybe I’m playing the wrong games… I’m not really a fan of game story lines and cutscenes because they get in the way of actually playing the game. I don’t emotionally engage other than chuckling at GlaDOS.

Serkis is a gem, I could listen to him read anything. The story was OK, seemed like a high level history of the realm from creation to after the LOTR books. I wish there was more on the origin of Sauron, it seems like he just kinda shows up one day.

I just finished the hobbit and recognized a few connections but I’ll probably have to read the Silmarilion again once I finish LOTR to piece more of it together.

Environmental SEMs do not require vacuum and can be used for nonconductive samples. The beam ionizes the air which prevents the sample from charging. Magnification is limited but it is more than enough for this.

You can tell it is SEM and not optical by the depth of field. An optical image at this magnification would have much less DoF so the peaks/valleys would be blurry.

Maybe a PhD in civil engineering lol.

The LOTR series read by Andy Serkis. Beautiful Narrator. I started with the Silmarilion and am now almost finished with The Hobbit.

No mention if it is waterproof so i bet it isn’t. Modular and waterproof are tough to achieve simultaneously.

I switched jobs in part because 35 minutes each way was too long. New job is 12 minute drive and I am eying jobs that are a 5 minute walk.

The Dark Forest, book two of the Three Body trilogy, delves into this idea. Great read and I won’t spoil it.
