There are a couple games in my Steam library that are just dormant due to the servers being shut down. Having the possibility to own and run a server for these games would be awesome.

You’re right. Perhaps I based my view on the gaming time I had daily before and after having kids.

I consider myself lucky to play 20-30mins a night and that is if the kids behave at bedtime, hence why I said casual. It’s the kind of game that I will never progress in as it requires a lot of playtime.

I can’t wait to just skip that game completely. As more stuff is revealed and as we approach the release date of Feb 16th, the more I believe the game will be a massive letdown.

Not necessarily worse, it depends how you see it.

Windows lets me run my PC Gamepass for Xbox as well as Steam, retro console emulators, Python IDE etc, out of the box.

However, it doesn’t let me suspend games and it sure is more taxing on the hardware to run.

As I’m not exclusively playing on Steam, the ROG is perfect for my needs.

Being a heavy user of the original Nintendo Gameboy and of Sega’s Game Gear, I’m thrilled to see handhelds making a huge comeback. I own the ASUS ROG Ally and it’s sooooo pleasant to use.

I’m not scared this card will run 1440p at all since my 6600 XT does it considerably well. Just don’t expect to reach 120/144hz while maxing out the graphics on any recent big releases.

This gen’s sweet spot for performance relative to cost is still the RX 7800 XT, unless the 7700 XT gets a massive price cut.

If you need a nVidia card, I agree, prices are through the roof and they need to be lowered.

If you only need it for gaming, 700$ CAD for the 7800XT 16GB is pretty much the sweet spot for performance/price.

Not surprised to see ASRock this high in the rankings. I didn’t know the brand five years ago but following the recommendation from my local computer shop, I gave it a try.

My last two builds are ASRock based (mobo and GPU) and I’ll keep it that way for as long as ASRock remains in business.

I’d add to the list : Devs and publishers doubling down on releasing shitty PC ports that lead enthusiasts thinking that a 24GB VRAM GPU is the standard.

Entry-level? I use a Ryzen 5 5600G coupled with a RX6600XT and I play most of my games at 1440p/120fps no problem. For heavier titles, it hovers around 70-90fps.

A Ryzen 7 5700 would be more than entry-level though. Low-cost on an well-capable gaming AMD build? Hell yes.

It’s never too late to learn a language. However, French is one hell of a step coming from English.

French is my main language and even if I’ve been speaking it for close to 40 years now, I still learn language exceptions and rules today.

I don’t know much about Acer’s proprietary software but there must be some place that you can set your battery to charge up to 60-80%. If you plan to use it while plugged most of the time, choose that option, it will extend your battery life.

Yes, with the proper care, your laptop can last you many years. It all comes down to how you handle it and maintain it.

First, you want to play on high/60fps but at what resolution? Paying over 1700$CAD for a RTX4090 GPU seems overkill while a RX6800 or a RX7700/7800 would let you play at 1080p/1440p at high settings at a fraction of the price.

PSU could be reduced to 850W.

64GB RAM is overkill for gaming right now but potentially useful in the upcoming years.

Bottom line, you could save here and there and still have a capable AM5 machine.

If you want value for your buck, build yourself an AM4 machine. Yes, AM5 is out now but your rig could still last you many many years with the right AM4 components.

It is. However, if you can grab it through Gamepass Ultimate, go for it. You could buy a couple months worth of subscription and cancel it once you’re done with the game. It would be cheaper than buying it upfront.
