Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What dead car brand would you want to bring back and why?
4·6 days agoOh snap. No good at all. I believe the Aura and Astra were rebadged Opals. I was considering an Aura. I was going to replace the badges lol.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What dead car brand would you want to bring back and why?
4·6 days agoI had an Ion, 5speed manual, no power windows and I loved it. The only thing that broke on it in 6 years/90k miles, was the driver door latch.

4·7 days agoI’m using Beeline with a Velo 2. I keep my phone stashed in a bag. I look up routes in Trailforks and either import as GPX or plan a similar route in the Beeline app. It has a road rating system, so I can thumbs down dangerous roads. I’m not sure what Beeline does with that. Which reminds me, I need to rate more roads.

2·8 days agoI LOVED riding on the back of a motorcycle, or in a pickup bed, as a kid.

2·9 days agoThat’s a burly down tube. I wonder if it will smash legs like the Lime bikes.
Voting every election I knew about where I lived since 2000 (Nader for president!) Always Green party except for Obama in 2008 (we need reparations, but that was closest thing). Voted Kamala, because it was what it was. I was really excited about Andrew Yang, because UBI is brilliant. Now… I’m learning español. 🙁

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Am I the only one that believe the US has to go through some sort of painful transition/civil war/revolution to fix it? Is reforms from Democrats enough?
55·14 days agoDefine painful. There’s nothing stopping us from starting co-ops for nearly everything. But the will has to be there. Too many people are happy with what they have. Violence only breeds more violence. Full stop. All it takes is a viral moment.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How likely is it that there's an animal on earth that's smarter than human beings in key areas?
1·18 days agoI have to wonder if whales or dolphins can do math. They have the curiosity required and some of the largest brains around.
Found it in Wiktionary, thanks! Bookmarking that.
This was my guess, but I vaguely recall esoteric grammar for compound words? I am struggling for another example. Johnnies-come-lately?

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Do you rinse your plates and cutlery before putting them in the dishwasher?
1·29 days agoNo. Only Lemishine seems to work in my dishwasher though, no matter what’s-his-name says.

Cue the long discussion of “best distribution” (it’s Debian) 🙂

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What are your favorite alternate rules for a sport or game?
1·1 month agoMagic the Gathering “Commander” rules, but with 60 cards, any Uncommon creature as commander, and only common cards in the deck (pauper). More fun factor than Standard, and doesn’t take forever to play. Dandân sounds fun.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Those of you who don't wash your hands after going to the bathroom, why?
7·2 months agoI wash the engine grease off first. Then take a load off and sit down. The real question is, “Why do kids pee on the seat?” WHY GOD WHY

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•what do you prepare to eat at your workplace?
2·2 months agoFold top sandwich bags are my go to. Today I brought fresh raspberries, roasted peanuts, fruit snacks, can of Shasta, fresh husky cherry tomatoes, some turkey jerky sticks, and a mini chocolate bar. Yesterday was similar snacks and a container of leftover spaghetti and meatballs. Aldi’s frozen meals are great, like chipotle chicken or birria - the actual healthy food ones, not the cheap mass market ones like Stouffer’s. I don’t even keep em frozen at work - doesn’t take so long to warm up. Absolutely avoid baked beans.

I’m sorry you had that experience. I work with former dealer technicians and they are good at fixing cars. Decent people all around. The service writers are often to blame. But with all that money on the line there is plenty of blame to go around. Fuck cars.
