  • I mean with regards to this poll, yes and no. Look at the question framing. For some questions this is true but a lot don’t really leave space for that mistake:

Did trump have a negative affect on grocery prices?

Did trump have a negative affect on your finances prices?

Will Trump’s tarrifs increase the price of every day goods?

These don’t ask if Trump or his administration is responsible for high grocery prices or CoL or the financial climate, just if he has helped or worsened it. Other questions are pretty clear in their separation from this specific administration:

Do you believe Corporations or billionaires have had an active role in making life more difficult for average people over the past 25 years?

Do you believe congressional Republicans or congressional Democrats have made life more difficult?

A lot of the other questions just have to do with how anxious people feel about finances or the concerns they have and doesn’t really ask about any politicians at all.

Of course you are absolutely right that, in general, people have an astonishingly and consistently short memory resulting in attributing current problems to current politicians but I dunno if this poll is really indicative of that.

  • I think the key thing is most people don’t like change. They know stroads. They may not love stroads but they work and it’s what they’ve used. I’ve been all over the place in this country and by and large public transportation SUCKS and creates more headaches than anything. Just hopping into a car is 1000x easier. So that’s the view I think most people go into this with. In the cities where public transportation is good, it’s a complete game changer, but they are few and far between so most people don’t have a good reference point. They see people pushing public transportation and think of their own shitty system and say F that.

  • I’ve had the ”if you had infinite money" discussion with tons of people and am absolutely floored at the number of people that say they would get a job just to have something to do or to keep from getting bored. I’m like dude I have .003% of the time I want to do all the dumb shit I want to do. I could never in a million years imagine myself being like “yooo I am soooo bored having unlimited free time and money. I’m gonna go apply at the gas station”

  • good lord. yes, i know about the 14th amendment. that’s why he’s not on the Colorado ballot. The problem is (like a ton of things in the constitution) it is outrageously vague. It doesnt clarify who is supposed to invoke it, or when, as in before or after a person is elected. the state court could use it, or congress. If the state uses it, it can easily be appealed to supreme court (which it already has in this case, and more than once). The supreme court since 1866 has still never ruled on the meaning or application of the insurrection clause. It has been used before, but (to my knowledge) only three times prior. One was via impeachement, one was just after being elected, one was barred from running. The impeached guy was a judge and never tried to run again. The other two appealed the 14th amendment ruling to the supreme court, they both won, and both ran again and both took office. All that to say, it is not a sturdy leg to stand on and certainly doesn’t make it automatically illegal for someone to run. If it did, he would not be running. If the supreme court votes that the 14th should be invoked then it would be illegal. Lastly, i would urge you to calm the fuck down man. Damn. You all are ornery as fuck around here. I don’t like the man any more than you do but i am just stating the law. As it stands at this very moment, the idiot can legally run.

  • lmao who in the holy hell am i apologizing for? I’m just saying you would think the american voters would never in a million years vote for someone like trump. You would think that it wouldn’t matter if he was on the ballot because he is so far from adequately filling the station of president that the american voters wouldn’t even give that candidate a second thought on account of… well pretty much everything but let’s go with criminality. the fact that he needs to be barred otherwise he would win the election or come very close is absolutely bonkers. Also, the fact that you not only disagree with the fact that the crux of the problem is the american voter simply cannot be trusted while also calling that apologizing for trump is so crazy

  • This type of crap should be mega illegal. I feel like I see this all the time. I don’t know how you would ever prove beyond a reasonable doubt that they are actually “laying people off” tho which I presume means it’s unfortunately gonna stick around as a method for companies to avoid severance which sucks.

Also, not for nothing but San Fran and Austin are definitely not two most expensive cities in the country. San Fran is kinda up there. Maybe like top 5 in some lists. I legitimately couldn’t find Austin in a single one but I only checked up to like the top 25 or 30 cities.
