Talk about absolutism. You didn’t address this, and you didn’t read my comment. I’m done.

But he keeps going. Freely. So it is volunteering now. The first 15 hours was not volunteering by definition, but it is afterwards.
I need a picture of them staring at birds together!
Yes and no. For kids doing it, it’s more “community service” but for this kid, he keeps going so it turns into a love of volunteering.

Seattle summer is what people want from fall, and I say that coming from the South! Today is a 77/56. Perfect weather bc of all the shade and light breeze.

I’m a salaried software developer. My first job was 8-5 with a lunch break that we had to take. I asked if I could take it at the start or the end of the day and was told, “No.” So my coworkers and I started playing board games 3-4 times a week during our lunch break in one of the offices. Mainly legacy games like Gloomhaven and Pandemic Legacy. The VP loved showing off the board game room to the interviewees to show that we like to have fun there.
I do miss that job sometimes because it was just raw programming. I was programming or writing SQL queries for over 30 hours a week. No AppSec, no lengthy review process, no bullshit (except the pay, which was ok for Mississippi).
I’m not in the Andromeda galaxy! I can tell that galaxy from this cropped picture any day!
Flames5123@sh.itjust.worksto LinkedinLunatics@sh.itjust.works•So grounded. So humble.English2·13 days agoI’ve gotten depressed enough (and my kitchen at my new place is very shit) that I don’t cook that much for myself anymore. My wife still keeps it up sometimes and understands that I hate our closed off kitchen. Also, it’s a simple walk down the street to a food truck or a 2 min car ride to get fun instant ramen then I can make a soft boiled egg.
The money is comfortable but I want to cook more again. I miss it.

Flames5123@sh.itjust.worksto LinkedinLunatics@sh.itjust.works•*Permanently Deleted*English1·21 days agoMy first job outside of college as an SE: 40hr/week & 50k in Mississippi. I worked my ass off and I’m almost at #1. Working 20-30 hours a week (with some meetings where I don’t really work) making less than 300k, but in a big city living my best life. All but one person in my team is a fresh hire straight from college or an internship. It’s doable, but they’re picky.
I enjoyed the Mississippi job more due to the work style vs the new big tech job. But the hours and money are very nice, so I can’t really complain.

I love the blahaj.zone community, but I need to see downvotes on news articles to know if there is some controversy, either with the news site, the content, or something else. I know why blahaj.zone doesn’t allow downvotes, and I support it, but I can’t have it be my main account’s instance because of my personal use case.
I describe the age from Gravity Falls (maybe even started with Avatar) to the end of The Owl House as the platinum age of cartoons. So many stories and so many engaging fandoms. It’s not dead right now but it feels like we’re in a bit of a drought.
My favorite kids show right now is Bluey. My wife and I don’t have kids and don’t want kids (at least for a while more) but we love watching Bluey. I’ve teared up too many times because it’s so relatable as an adult and it’s not just made for the kids. There’s jokes and references that only adults can get, but not crude.
