I don’t mean they will get nuked but army will be send in response to any attempt of secession and state army will have no chance against US army. Having nukes could protected them but they don’t have any.

But I’m sure it depends on the group. If the group serves some purpose (like organizing some meetups) people definitely stay for longer. If it’s for talking shit I don’t think it works well. Same like social media.

ExLisper@lemmy.curiana.netto World News@lemmy.world•Far-right populists top polls in Germany, France and Britain for the first timeEnglish5·9 hours agoIt’s not as simple as “Europeans are also voting for Trump-like parties”. You have multi-party system in Europe and the far-right parties are mostly anti establishment movements. People are mad at lack of action from the governments when it comes to housing, climate, crime, immigration and social services issues. They are tired of both left and right wing parties so they voting for the alternatives now. It’s not exactly some anti-intellectual, extreme conservative, anti-democratic movements like MAGA. Yes, it’s still bad but most people support EU and democracy. While MAGA is a purely fascist movement trying to regain their dominant position over the minorities in EU it’s more about frustration with the ruling class.

In my experience you can discuss politics or economy among friends with different views but when you touch social issues it gets toxic real fast. Pretty much like on social networks.
“everyday carry” people fantasy: the lights went out but we have to open that box and sign this form. We’re doomed!! Who can save us!?!
reality: I guess I will just do it later.
I’ve never seen a “Maria Skłodowska-Curie street” outside of Poland. It’s always Marie Curie. It’s definitely not just USA, it’s the same in Europe.
I don’t know if she kept her polish last name after marriage but in Poland it’s always Maria Skłodowska-Curie. I think it’s some kind of Polish curse that the most famous poles are not known by polish names so people don’t realize they were Polish. Curie, Chopin, Copernicus, John Paul II. Or, even worse, they are known by polish name by no one can pronounce it. The highest peak in Australia is Mt Kościuszko but Australians don’t know it’s named after polish General because they can’t even say it.
A lot of it his vastly exaggerated. You will get like a one person post something on twitter and suddenly it’s a new trend. Also, you can easily find 10 people to sing up for anything. So someone will setup a facebook group about falling in love with AI, some people will join out of curiosity, 10 people will post about their “wireborn husbands” and the media will run with it like it’s common now.
Training LLMs based on tweets is one thing, training it on chats with users is something completely different. I don’t think this actually happens. The model would degrade extremely fast.

I never had issue with ports on non-Apple laptops. I currently have 2 USB-C (one with DP), 3 USB-A, HDMI, Jack and Ethernet. Pretty good taking into account that there’s plenty of good USB-C dock available so you only need the extra ports when on the move.
