Yea, the thought was that if you actually went the distance to create a good handwritten sheet, you have probably learned enough for at least a passing grade, so you can take that out instead of getting caught and failing.

Our history teacher would give anyone who submitted a good cheatsheet (meaning good info, small form factor) for the test beforehand an automatic pass (but no higher than a passing grade), though you can’t take the test for a higher grade.

  • Wouldn’t the price go up irrespective of which side you tax it on? Obviously if this is a megacorp, they could spread it out over unrelated products, but in the end its not like theyll roll over, take the corporate tax and leave the product at the old price. Is it being a poor tax even that bad of a thing? This is not a necessity and poor people are generally going to be the ones that suffer from poor diet / lifestyle choices in very big part due to the price/calorie aspect of junkfood et al. Lets be real, if you buy a bar once a week, 1.29->3.29 is not a big deal.

Also, we do have tax on sugarry soft drinks in the EU (atleast my country), it is just laughably small compared to EtOH and tobacco). I personally always have thought that anything with added sugar beyond a certain amount should get a heavy tax, conditional on this tax being funneled into healthcare / public health programs.

  • Toribash is a unique take on fighting games, where you control the character in freeze-frames by adjusting actions on the character’s joints (relax, hold, flex, extend), then executing those actions. You can make singleplayer sequences or fight other players one on one - you get X amount of seconds per move simultaneously with your opponent, then the movement is resolved and you have another action round.

Omega Strikers - I’m not sure if this fits the bill entirely, but I think it is relatively unique in what it does and I have been playing the heck out of it since release, so I’ll plug it. It is a mesh of MOBA and table/air hockey, the game plays in 3v3 - 2 forwards and a goalie each team. Controls relatively standart for MOBA, the goal is to get the core (puck) into the enemy goal. You can also knock opponents off the sides or damage them making it easier to knock them off.

By that reasoning, sure, it is not arbitrary, it might be the most efficient way to resolve things without complicating the notation we have to use. The point about it being arbitrary was more to say that there is no real mathematic basis for it, we have simply agreed to do it this way so everyone applyingnit arrives at the same “correct” solution.

Arguably it has little value in algebra too, since it tends to be written less ambiguously, tho I have not had to really use algebra much since highschool (weirdly it was not a huge part of medschool, at least here, occasional use in chem and phys only).

Im sorry, what? The order of operations is completely arbitrary, it just also happens to be the standart. Not having PEMDAS would simply mean we have to write equations differently. PEMDAS et al only exist to avoid ambiguity as in this image.
