I use tasks and set up a self hosted caldav instance. I think if you donate to tasks they’ll do the syncing for you too? Don’t quote me on that though

Welcome. I just started using linux recently myself and have been loving it. I would Definitely recommend checking out all the desktop environments to see what works best for you! I’ve done a bit of shopping and I think I’ve landed on KDE, myself.
Good luck with the transition!
This was a very cool video. Thank you for sharing!

Hope it provides you with some inspiration.
Corr@lemm.eeto ErgoMechKeyboards@lemmy.world•Been Learning on my ZSA Moonlander, but I'm Stuck at 60WPM1·2 years agoIf you’re feeling up for doing practice, doing more complex word sets (English 1k-5k for example) will probably yield better results. I find that practice only really shows meaningful results the next day at the earliest once you get past probably around 60wpm.
As to using fewer keys, I’m down to 34 keys for my main layout (still using a regular 60% for gaming), and if it’s something you want to explore, I can’t recommend it enough. It’s been a super great experience and I basically don’t move my hands/fingers anymore. If you want some extra inspiration for a layout, I’d be happy to share mine with you.
Glad to hear you’re still enjoying it. Keep it up man
Most native English speakers tend to take blunt statements/questions negatively due to the culture (especially true in north America).
I enjoyed reading the article but I would agree with the above commenter that it may be a bit lengthy. Generally speaking writing tends to be more engaging in this format if it’s a bit more concise, both as a whole and on a per sentence basis.
There was also a typo somewhere, I think “the” instead of another word, I read the article a few hours ago now so I can’t remember, sorry. I don’t think I would have guessed you were not a native English speaker from the article. Overall, I liked it and congratulations on putting something out there!
Corr@lemm.eeto ErgoMechKeyboards@lemmy.world•Been Learning on my ZSA Moonlander, but I'm Stuck at 60WPM1·2 years agoHow fast were you before and how much practice are you putting in? And where are you at now? I hope you’re enjoying the journey :)
This is reasonably valid. I think Windows makes it a bit harder to do real damage to your system, so I’m used to that. I also have borked installs in VMs before, but that’s never mattered because spinning up a new one takes no time. Definitely a valuable lesson to do more research before running commands, especially as sudo
Thank you for the offer. I hope I never need to take advantage of it lol
This is why I gave up on fixing it yesterday lol. I spent a few days setting it up, I didn’t wanna spend a few more days to try to figure out exactly what the issue was when I could just give in and then actually use it
I think I know what the issue was… I modified the grub.cfg file and ran grub2-mkconfig and I think it was saying it detected a Linux install at my root partition, but didn’t seem to recognize my /boot or /boot/efi partitions and I couldn’t figure out how to edit that via the grub cli. If that wasn’t the case, then that’s okay. I’ll make sure to teach myself a bit more about the bootloader before trying to edit it again
I think you may need help… I bid you good luck on your recovery :P
Time heals all wounds :P
I was trying to set up snapper, so sorta on my way there lol
You’re right. I spent a few hours trying to fix it before giving up and determined that reinstalling would be quicker lol
I feel your pain :P
I’m almost done getting everything back, I think!
That’s awesome news! I’m gonna look into this now!
Is this not up to date then? I knew that it was a thing that had worked, based on the previous link but did not think it worked atm. I’ll look into the link you sent tho!
I already have a few flatpak apps since a handful of the software I use isn’t in any repo natively. Definitely good advice to check it out
As someone also starting to get into Linux I appreciate these posts
