I’ve been interested in Anytype, it’s supposed to be like Notion, which I haven’t used either. You might want to check it out. I’m also trying to get away from Google Keep.
Anyone here have any experience with Anytype?
Not just aliens. Alien, aliens.
Yes! Glad to see others out there on the same page as me. DSC Season 4 was one of my favorites of any Trek series, and I’m hoping five can continue on with a similar vibe.
Arguably the best ones. Because you know their moderation is on lock.

Lol you’re not wrong…
I seriously don’t understand how anyone from windows is going to find stock GNOME even remotely intuitive or useful.
GNOME is a very easy transition from MacOS, however. There are even themes to make it almost indistinguishable.
Somehow I missed this thread when it was new, wow the LD quality really is excellent.
Thanks for sharing this I love this kinda thing!
Why could they not do in hundreds of years what the EMH did in a few days? 🤷🏻♂️
…And the combined total of thousand of years of scientific advances of myriad species. The Federation’s strength is in it’s diversity. No doubt the Vidiians made enemies of more than one species that were able to help them, too.
what app is that?
7840U is a beast. That’s what Framework puts in their high-end AMD laptop.
That makes sense. Buying used is always going to be more economical (and ecological) than new, no matter how “anti waste” it is.
haha right! Most people don’t even understand that MacOS is a thing on it’s own, they just think it’s a Mac. They have never needed to make the distinction between software and hardware. If you were to suggest they “change to Linux”, they won’t have any frame of reference for what this means. Heck, most people still call Android phones “droids”, or if they know anything, “Pixels” and “Samsungs” without knowing that “Android” is it’s own thing. Macbooks have USB-C now but few users know that you can use an Apple charger to charge anything USB-C. It’s like back in the 90s you would frequently hear people not making the distinction between “monitor” and “computer”.
Don’t get me wrong, I think consumer education is the only plausible way out of this proprietary mess, but the further society moves away from PCs having discrete interchangeable components the harder concepts like “operating system” are going to be to understand for anyone not specifically seeking out that knowledge.
I hear this a lot but in my experience the Framework is often in the same range and sometimes slightly cheaper. Right now a framework with i7-1360P and 16GB Ram is $1469. An X1 carbon with a (slightly slower) cpu is $400 more. Ryzen is similar. Not hating on Thinkpads but the Framework is a lot more competitive than you’ll often hear and the upgradeability is obviously a massive financial incentive too.
Pretty sure the solid colors are for people who need to shine a specific color of light, and there’s no simpler way to quickly do that. You either download a new app, or google image search and try to find something you can zoom in with.
The sound effects one I have no idea, haha
Debian with CasaOS!
Tempting, but not worth $3500.
Hah, I consider non-algorithmic sorting to be RSS’ killer feature. There are a lot of fantastic stories that get published every week that are too dry, too complex, or just plan too accurate and non-sensationalized to get noticed by social media algorithms.
Something I learned during the Vaxxhappened protest is just how many moderators are perfectly content to do these “jobs”. I found it honestly very sad how many of these what are ostensibly “community leaders” will happily acquiescence to the
demandsdesires of the company as long as they can continue to do the job.Don’t get me wrong I have a lot of sympathy for many of the moderators there who care deeply about their communities and providing a welcoming experience and feel stuck to Reddit, but until more of them grow a spine and idk, move to Lemmy or something like the top r/startrek and r/daystrominstaitute mods did (not me to be clear) then nothing of substance will change there. There is a seeming endless supply of people willing to clean up Reddit for free.
