I feel like most Europeans have no issue with the French, it’s an America-thing. Maybe a UK-thing.

Of course, but when listening to a story it’s usually polite to listen to the person telling the story and what they want to tell you, what they deem important.
That seems unlikely to be true unless they were raised very religious and not in any proximity to farm animals or pets.
Hope to see you on RetiBooks then! 😊
Ah, well, there are many of them. Collecting ancient coins, for example. Messing around with Reticulum, an alternative network structure. Right now also shooting pistols, just started that some months back. Byzantine history… linguistics, particularly parts of speech in a typological perspective. And many others 😂 but as a dad of 3 I don’t get to spend enough time on them all.
Young kids are like this, unable to parse what the is important and not important in any given story. They grow out of it pretty quickly, by maybe 10, at least in my experience. We’re neurotypical (as far as I know).
For my special interests I don’t mine follow up questions at all, in fact I like them. But most normal stories or narratives are fairly linear and there’s no need to follow every thread.
Bröther, let me tell you about this magical thing called ‘dreams’!

61·2 months agoI’m not 🙂 but you’re making a surprising statement and refusing to elaborate or have a conversation. Which is surprising to me, why engage in the first place then?

51·2 months agoSo what do you have against wine? It’s not ikke butter is a waste of milk, it’s a refined product. Same with wine.

41·2 months agoGrapes don’t keep well, wine does. Why do you think people started making wine and e.g. cider? Great way to preserve fruit juice.

Right, that sounds pretty normal - though frustrating. Conversational behaviour is also cultural, of course.
There are ways to keep the turn, of course, that’s why people say uuuh and ummm. Sounds like a frustrating manager 🙄
That’s interesting, from a conversational analysis point of view there are literally little measurable breaks in all conversations where anyone can try to take the turn.
Does that mean you lot can’t hear them?
Or is it a matter of not having the timing to hit them, o maybe that other people (verbally)wrestle the turn from you?

Uh, fuck off. We defended Greenland - sovereign nation within the Kingdom, not ours BTW - for 450 years, the last 80 of them via international treaties and a defense agreement which, it turns out, was an issue because Americans are apparently dumber than a bag of dicks and decided to reelect a fascist rather than a black woman.
Also, who’s saying we’re not defending it?
