ADHD@lemmy.world•Observed effect of Methylphenidate on the 8y/o - really helpful?English
16·8 months agoIt probably is the wrong type of medication for his ADHD case. Sedation like that doesn’t sound right fundamentally.

NonCredibleDefense@sh.itjust.works•This is supposed to be a joke but it's true...English
0·2 years agoNot a big fan of these victorious memes when it is more than clear that this is just a really bloody war for minor territory movement at this point. The initial moments of gigantic advances are less and less likely with more entrenchment.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Begging for all the Lemmy Audiophiles recommendations on computer speakers!
0·2 years agoDon’t search for computer speakers, just look for normal speakers on which I can’t help out too much on. Unless you want to invest into an expensive sound card, you probably should go for an AV-Receiver which transmits the audio through HDMI as this will give you the maximum quality depending on the supported formats. I have a sound card -> old school amplifier -> speaker setup. Basically it is your choice where the digital to analogue transformation happens, whether through a receiver or sound card. A sound card does have the massive advantage of providing virtual headphone surround sound (yes on stereo headphones, and no, this is really working) which receivers typically don’t have, because reasons and it will provide you with a massive immersion boost. And no onboard sound is not comparable, even the best one is a clear step down.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is Lemmy, with a tiny fraction of Mastodon's MAU, more fun than Mastodon?
0·2 years agoTwitter has two tabs, one with and the other one with less algorithms, Mastodon should do that as well. The discussion is about improving it and Bluesky is in its infancy.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Why is Lemmy, with a tiny fraction of Mastodon's MAU, more fun than Mastodon?
0·2 years agoMastodon went in two seriously wrong directions, but seems to remedy them which is difficult. First they have no proper quote supporting and failing to realize all communication works this way on the internet. Be it comments on articles, all the newspapers quoting others and thus creating those articles etc. Second the lack of algorithms due to a misguided opinion they are inherently evil. What we got instead is a random feed of random messages where a news like structure like on Twitter is not possible. Extremely important events are buried behind tons of crappy posts. And the only region for whom the explore tab is working is America as nothing is localized. Also scrolling through the feed doesn’t tell you what seems to garner attraction by the number of comments. So most clicks are wasted on deadend topics.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation
1·2 years agoCounter-Strike 2 cheats run for $10 per month and Valorant is not just higher priced but sometimes listed as Out of Stock, so I guess certain providers got striked down.
Multivitamins may actually be harmful. Fat soluble Vitamins may have weird properties which could be bad even with correct dosage. Vitamin B6 can be easily overdosed as even the recommended values are questionable.
However, I strongly advise against going to just by “terrible diet” and do only until something shows on regular check-ups. There can be subacute deficiencies, they won’t show up on routine checks or not at all anywhere as we can’t “Star Trek Health Scan” the human body and especially the brain. Also your diet is terrible by default. Why? Because depending on the geographic region and especially with modern agriculture which killed off all kinds of biodiversity and trace elements is more than likely to be worse than a century ago with the same ingredients. It is not easy to recommend a Vitamin stack as there are so many things we don’t quite know and regulation is practically absent.

593·2 years agoDeranged to spend the money on a case where you don’t even know what you get. I chose to pay a much more reasonable $50 for a Valorant knife. Elden Ring’s production value is great, but have you seen these 5 animations?

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation
15·2 years agoIt is not a claim, it is a fact the cheating hurdle is higher. You clearly are not the target demographic, not affected by cheats and not interested, so you really should not tell others what to do with their hobbies.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation
27·2 years agoWhat a terrible, uneducated comment. The anti-cheat solutions cost developers tons of money. Better netcode to disable wall hacking? Do you just randomly create arguments for your point? There is already as much engine and netcode obfuscation as feasible, strategy games render only few units into the fog of war. You need first a big enough barrier before you collapse the labour intensive moderation which can yield false positives.
Something something capitalism bad.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation
37·2 years agoDo you know how clean Valorant is to play compared to Counter-Strike? Definitely worth it. Shooters just don’t work anymore without kernel level anti-cheat. The demand is real that even third party add-ons are used to play with them, e. g. Face It for Counter-Strike. It doesn’t stop all cheats and never will, but makes cheating expensive enough to exclude many.
The famous Escape from Tarkov Wiggle video should put it into perspective.
The Linux - FOSS user group of Lemmy is obviously mad, but that is the new reality.

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Riot Games Now Requires Kernel-Level Anti-Cheat Software for League of Legends, Following Valorant's Implementation
217·2 years agoIs the cheating in LoL that bad from somebody who regularly plays at least middle level ranked games? I am very glad to have it for Valorant compared to the mess Counter-Strike is in. Kernel level anti-cheats are a must nowadays to lift the barrier to entry which excludes quite a bunch of cheaters.
