  • I’m a union commercial electrician where I spent a decade building and improving tenant spaces in commercial towers in Seattle and Bellevue. There’s a huge dip in our work now that there aren’t high rises being occupied. I’d like people to work from home, but my blue collar job can’t be done from home. If we can change what these buildings are used for I wouldn’t be worried.

Google here in Fremont area on the other hand is expanding their space by occupying a larger foot print with a smaller work force per square foot. That’s a good way to keep us working.

  • But that’s what they want… They want a dictator because they don’t want the president who can’t do anything because his hands are tied by complicated political checks and balances. They want a president that doesn’t care about the courts or the legislation that they disagree with. They want the president who pushes authoritative action through the bureaucracy. Unfortunately they don’t understand that those actions will never be to aid them but only aid himself.

  • Lemmy is like 1/2 of what reddit was able to do for me. I haven’t gone back to reddit since the exodus, I deleted all my posts and my account and never went back. But even now when I need information on anything from a community it’s always reddit that pops up with the information that I need. I understand this is because of userbase and interacting with it but lemmy has not been able to do that effectively yet.

Granted I did post about a fish for my fishtank here and it was answered actually pretty quickly.

I think I’m just not understanding what instances and the feddiverse is. Most posts I’m interested in have like 1 or 2 comments, and half the time they’re not useful interactions. It just feels kind of dead here. And again I understand it’s because of the lack of interaction and userbase. But to say it’s better than reddit or the best alternative is being a little frivolous.
