A new Statistics Canada report says Canada is becoming less accepting of gender diversity.
In 2025, 77 per cent of women and 70 per cent of men surveyed said they agreed or strongly agreed that people should be free to express their gender however they choose.
That’s a drop from 2018, when 85 per cent of women and 78 per cent of men agreed.
In Saskatchewan, 69 per cent of women and 60 per cent of men surveyed last year said they agreed, making it the province with the lowest acceptance of gender diversity in the country.
Women in Saskatchewan specifically were down 14 percentage points from 2018, when 83 per cent agreed people should be free to express their gender however they choose.
Since 2018, Saskatchewan and Alberta’s provincial governments have passed legislation targeting trans and gender diverse youth, such as Saskatchewan’s Parents’ Bill of Rights, enacted in 2023.

If you’re referring to American billionaires, I’d probably agree. But I think this section from the article is more accurate and less to do with billionaires:
Confusion and fear are possible reasons why people are becoming less accepting of gender diversity, said Wayne Bernakevitch, founder of the Regina Civic Awareness Action Network, an organization that lobbied in favour of the Parents’ Bill of Rights.
“They’re concerned with finding a house to live in, you know, how do you pay for the next week’s groceries? And so getting into all of this is just a great distraction in their life,” Bernakevitch said in an interview with CBC’s Blue Sky.
Politicians play a critical role in the creation of these attitudes, Leah Hamilton, a professor of business, communication studies and aviation at Mount Royal University, told Blue Sky.
“We have seen over and over throughout history, especially during periods of perceived or real competition for resources like jobs and housing and other things, that politicians will often create scapegoats,” Hamilton said.
You think politicians scapegoating people DOESN’T have to do with billionaires?
Whether I’m struggling to pay my rent doesn’t actually determine what people are valid and deserve rights.
There is no such thing as an “American billionaire” as opposed to billionaires generally. They are stateless. Billionaires are billionaires and lines on a map don’t stop them from exploiting people. In fact it makes it easier.
Not trying to pick a fight with you, friend. I don’t think billionaires should exist. Just saying it’s a bit more complicated than “billionaires bad”.

Obviously the monopolistic economic extraction, absurd media whitewashing, and capture of the social narrative within the political system directing fear towards trans people and leftists has nothing to do with money.
While id specify there are a lot of gatherings like the heritage foundation which aren’t exclusively billionaire, it is still just tied to consolidated wealth and power, which is being directed against the general public through divide and conquer. Whether it’s the ATLAS network pushing Alberta separatism, or the maple maga shit, is no small part due to rich assholes being able to do stuff like elon musk buying the world’s most popular social media platform to force an environment to serve his political goals.
There’s no single entity, but obviously psychopathic consolidating of wealth and power is the primary problem behind these other issues, and looking at history tells you the same fucking story more or less repeating itself through the political aspirations of aristocratic knobs creating scapegoats while they pillage the civilization into ruin or rebellion.
The inclination to separate billionaires/the ultra rich from the context is baffling.
Whether it’s Pierre trying to do his own fascist MAGA mirrir or Trudeau totally changing his mind on voter reform after swiping the narrative from smaller parties to get elected. (we don’t want the American two party system because it’s easy for billionaires to manipulate by pushing crazy fascist shit while also funding the “only viable alternative”)
Extremely baffling.
Pride this year was grim. Reduced acceptance and support is coinciding with 20 years of Pride becoming less political, less protest-based, more commercial, and more family-oriented. The fucking mayor of Cambridge pulled the mic on a traumatized young person who had been invited to speak, when they had the audacity to talk about the mayor’s crony’s failure to apologize for the damage he did to the speaker’s community. In Guelph, anti-trans protesters openly heckled and intimidated attendees. And there’s no one left ready to fuck shit up when the fascists show. It’s gonna be fruit machines again before long if this doesn’t reverse.
