Cool stuff, I take back everything I said about Conduit. Will be really interested to see what the other legends do. Antiquary’s changes have my brain abuzz too.

Changes look good overall, but as always we will have to see how it turns out ingame. Antiqueratty still a disappointment sadly.
My main issue with Antiquary is how thematicaly inconsistent it is.
Icon is a deck of cards. Some trait names refer to a deck of cards. Yet otherwise it has nothing to do with cards thematically.
It is supposed to be Indiana Jones, finding antient relics. And then it finds an… electric guitar? A… hologram? A chak organ?!
And then, suddenly skrittmancer.
I feel like it should’ve been a Gambler but then marketing or legal stopped it. The team was likely too far in developement to change the spec so just scrambled to change the theme of it somehow.
I saw an early post that pointed out that the Antiquary icon kinda looks like the collections icon rather than a hand of playing cards. I can envision a world where that was intended, but the players didn’t agree, so they’re changing it.
I’m also annoyed that skritt-digging-in-the-ground requires a target. They’re not really stealing any more.
Exactly, the style doesn’t feel coherent. Basically everything that someone thought was a “crazy cool thing” is just baked into it.
On a mechanics side it’s a strange concept too. Most games tend to reduce rng to make everything more predictable, while this spec is all about rng.
It’s sad for me personally, because I typically enjoy playing the fantasy rogue stereotypes, but the Thief didn’t really match for me yet and I was hoping that the new spec would be interesting to me.
The Steal is already kinda rng so that wouldn’t bother me.
And the utility skills… it’s all about pushing your luck, which would work great for a Gambler spec. Here it just falls flat
Kinda, but I really liked the concept kf qDE and a predetermined stolen item. Rng always feels bad when you don’t get the item/proc you need.
But all in all I think I will just try it. I also was disappointed when rangers got Untamed, because it was a spec eith pet focus and it’s one of my favourites right now. Best thing in gw2: no character lock in like other games.
As someone just starting to get into Thief I like Antiquary as a concept, having a Thief with more buttons is good coming from how active and fluid Warrior, Rev and Ele are. I’m finding I don’t really enjoy anything other than Maleficent Seven Deadeye, so the (freshly buffed) artifact spammer build path looks really fun. PVP will be interesting too, as I’m seeing people start to homebrew bruiser thief builds and I think this is going to enable a Carrion bruiser to stand alongside the DA/Trickery Valk bruiser I’ve seen around.
I really enjoyed the DE variants, but the Antiquary just doesn’t feel right stylewise. As I said in another comment, it’s like they stuffed all the crazy ideas into one class.
I also enjoy quickness untamed a lot. It also feels very fluent and has a great toolbox to support your teammates.
Pvp is another topic. I played a lot of D/P DD roamer, but haven’t looked into the mode for a while.
