You’re Americans. You’ve evened trained to accept this stuff as business as usual

You exist in a system where a series of systemically created hurdles make it nearly impossible to change things for the better. You can vote, but both of the major parties are pro-police. Election days aren’t federal holidays and the poor cannot take off work to get to the single polling place a 20 minute drive (since there’s no public transit) away from your home since the Rs closed every other polling place in your district to help curb any potential unseating for entrenched right-wing officials.

You can protest, but not when they arbitrarily decide your peaceful protest is now a riot because one person broke a car window. Then not only can they hold anyone in attendance they want financially liable, but the police can just literally blind you with tear gas without any consequence, you can be legally run over by right-wing lunatics in some states, they can put you in jail to die of heatstroke before ever even getting a court date - only to be declared guilty by a Trump-appointed judge and forever lose your right to vote in any state where Rs are already in control.

    FTFY

We don’t accept anything. They make it so the only outcome - whether a result of voters fighting or accepting - is the same.

In France, for example, the country riots when they raise tuition a few percent, or if they raise retirement age 2 years. There is no such widespread pushback in the US for issues of far greater concern, because as you said, you’ve been trained to understand that your protest may be deemed illegal. Your FTFY can be summarised into “we’ve been trained”

        Seems like large-scale learned helplessness.

Um, this happened in a red state. This shit almost always happens in a red state.
