2·1 month agoThis sounds pretty fun! Honestly the album cover pulled me to this, also the “prog stoner/sludge”. For me album started out as a bit meh, then picked up at Blackend Wings.
Haha the drums in Through the Depths, at 5:00, it sounded like someone was knocking the door. I turned left and right, and I was very confused :) Overall it’s a lovely track with lots of variation. And that sludge outro is great.

2·1 month agoHeeey! This sounds a lot like a precursor to The Clandestine Gate! I don’t know when exactly, I kinda fell asleep, but I remembered hearing a part that sounded like “Early Clandestine Gate”

2·1 month agoAhab! Ahab! Ahab! Something like the track Ahab - Old Thunder is very fun to me, and I always look forward to listening to it again. Remember:

EDIT: I know you meant that most of the genre is pretty depressing, I just really wanted to share that meme. Also spam Ahab, I will always spam Ahab.
The more I listen to this, the more I appreciate it. “Hevy” has definitely earned a place in the “Favorites 2025” playlist.

1·2 months agoCame here by searching for “The Call of the Wretched Sea”, I see Lurker Of Chalice and Electric Wizard as well!
Ohhh you recommended the first track only XD For some reason I thought that post recommended the whole album! Yeah I also feel the need to describe why I like this track/album/artist I like to talk about stuff, so I’m always happy when someone else wants to talk about stuff.
Well I must say, it’s really nice that you respect people’s time! I don’t know, but in the last three months, I’ve started to look more into full albums, instead of single tracks. But a lot of single tracks got me to albums, they’re sorta like a taste, like “Yes we’ve worked on this whole work, would you like a taste?” I personally try to get my metal whenever I can, on my daily commute for example, the sun has just risen and I’ve always found it a bit funny that I’d start my day with metal. Anyway, so I do that, I listen to albums on my way. Sometimes I do that before sleep, or even in the bathroom. My poor ears, oh they don’t get a break :)
Well I must say though, listening to a single track is like watching a single episode from a TV show, or hearing a quote from a book, so I always gotta hunt for the full experience.
Uhh about the album, it’s good, like I really wish I could say more about it, but I’m not really familiar with the genre, but it seems nice, I’ll be staying :)
Black and red, it’s such a powerful palette. The artist, Blial Cabal, also did the artwork for MSW - Obliviosus, Hell and MSW are both by the same artist, and it was MSW that brought me do this record.

As for the album itself, I’d pick Gravis, Factum, and Bog. But the whole thing is an experience, sometimes I feel like picking certain tracks from an album is disingenuous, so I just end up listening to the whole thing, like god intended. (or satan :P)

That album is very nice to sleep to. I like Woodbine and Evergreen as well.
