How much did Samsung pay this guy? Like what does this even mean? “Oh it feels lighter than the phone that factually weighs less,” I can’t really trust the rest of the review if the beginning is glazing samsung this hard.
It’s possible that good ergonomics and balance can make something feel lighter than it is, especially in comparison to a device with less good ergonomics and balance.
Not saying that’s what’s happening here, just saying it’s not impossible.
It’s fairly well established that weight distribution is far more important than the actual weight. See VR headsets, stuff like the Index is hardly the lightest headset out there but it’s sure as hell didn’t feel like it wasn’t.
This looks like a cool device. Too bad it’s gonna be loaded with Samsung bloatware.
At least the software is made with proper multitasking in mind. Other OEMs give you bloat and nothing else in return.
The way Samsung designed the TriFold, it can only be set in two positions: Folded shut with the 6.5-inch cover screen or fully opened to the 10-inch inner display. This is different from the Huawei Mate XT, which can be used in three modes: using 1/3 of its display as a 6.4-inch slab phone, opening one portion to use a larger 7.9-inch screen size, and then opening it all the way to use the full 10.2-inch display.
Hmm. A little annoying.
Part of me wonders if they’re going to figure out another orientation that’ll work later on, like having the two inner folds tucked back in a way that lets you prop up the outer screen or something. Regardless, I personally prefer the way Samsung has done it because those foldable screens don’t really instill a ton confidence in me when it comes to durability and having it on the outside (and wrapped around the edge, as in the case of the Mate XT) skeeves me out.
