The map is wildly simplistic, as usual for these Internet takes lol.
In Portugal, for example (where I come from), I don’t know anyone that keeps their shoes in-doors 95% the time. If you’re doing some quick work or holding an event, people might be a bit more lack about taking off your shoes, but I (and many my friends) always make an effort to take some kind of home footware when visiting other people’s homes. As a general rule? Everyone puts some socks/sleepers/flipflops on.

Selfhosted@lemmy.world•What do you think is the best (and cheapest) way to host a new nextcloud instance and website for my local scouts organisation?English
2·9 months agoI agree it’s a nice way to try it out, though it has some limitations. Also, my experience with encryption at rest has been a mixed bag, though I think that’s just because Nextcloud’s implementation isn’t quite mature enough.
(happy cakeday!)
Yes! Oh my, I’m silly; that was precisely my point and I managed to mess it up 🙃
Thank you for the correction!
This. And to add to what other commenters have said, by using Bitwarden and paying for their Premium plan (very cheap, just $10/year), even if you don’t use all their features, you’re supporting a good project. It’s critical infrastructure, I think the price is more than fair.
Either way, you should always make periodic backups from any cloud service you use, encrypted of course.
Very useful, even for someone who has been using Linux for many years. Sometimes you just forget or need that tool you rarely use.
tldrcan be much handier than parsing a man page when you’re in a pinch.I use the tealdeer implementation, but any is fine really.
Been wanting to see a TF2 community on Lemmy as well :P

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What is a subreddit you wish had a presense on Lemmy?English
1·3 years agoThis is kinda obscure in the grand scheme of things, and will realistically not going to happen, but I’d love if the /r/EthosLab community moved here :P
And of course, a bigger portuguese presence (I run a portuguese instance hehe).
The Matrix is a classic for me too.
Possibly the first Pirates of the Caribbean. Dunno exactly how many times I’ve watched, but it’s close to 10. It’s such an iconic movie, with excellent scenarios, acting, and so revolutionary at the time.
I’ve watched some older Pixar movies (from their golden age imo) a bunch of times, like Monsters Inc and Nemo, as well as the masterpiece Shrek 2 from DreamWorks.
Wrong community for this type of questions. Please see !lemmy_support@lemmy.ml.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•People of Lemmy, what do you use to read posts on Lemmy?English
5·3 years agoEven though there are plenty of great and quickly evolving mobile apps, I use the web interface both on desktop and mobile devices. It’s actually quite good, and since I’m a mod and instance admin, the feature completeness is key. Apps are not there yet.
If your instance blocks it, it may be the case they allow community creation through a more curated process. Look for any meta-community (i.e one about the instance itself) and see if there’s any info on it.

1·3 years agoAwesome work!
I’d like to know more about the exact container topology you have, since I may try something similar on my instance as well.
Is it something like this?┌───┐ ┌───┐ │WEB│ │WEB│ └─┬─┘ └─┬─┘ ┌─┴─┐ ┌───┐ ┌─┴─┐ │BE ├─┤IMG├─┤BE │ └─┬─┘ ├───┤ └─┬─┘ └───┤DB ├───┘ └───┘Thank you! :3
It’s named after some things: https://github.com/LemmyNet/lemmy#whys-it-called-lemmy

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•Can I transfer my account to a different instance?English
1·3 years agoMight take a jab at working on that export/import feature for the backend this summer. It’s quite a crucial feature and with the new influx of users, it would definitely be a nice thing to squash.

The recent evolution is great and I’ve been a happy KDE user for many years, but my oh my is NetworkManager bad. It’s not good on all systems that use it under the hood, but I find it especially unintuitive and so outdated. The applet thing is fine (still suffers from weird behaviour from NM’s core), but actual settings screen drives me crazy… The Bluetooth one should also receive some love, but it’s decent. NM needs serious revision.
