Yeah I looked at this and was like, that’s like comparing apples and bowling balls.

2·3 days agoMore red tape, more paperwork, limits on sourcing of materials, increased documentation of sourcing for each piece of a product, and unlike NAFTA the USMCA isn’t permanent and has to be renegotiated from time to time so that introduces tons of uncertainty into the whole industry.
The only good thing that the USMCA did was mandate wage levels for workers in companies exporting to other member countries. But that could have just been added to NAFTA after some negotiations rather than tearing up the agreement and creating this terrible replacement.

61·5 days agoYou’re thinking long term strategy, YT is owned by Alphabet, a publicly traded company, they are only able to think in quarters. All that matters is short term gains for investors, and besides once the short term gains run out the investors will just dump the stock and move on to extracting what they can from the next company.

664·6 days agoHuman euthanasia should be legalized and normalized, both medically assisted suicide and euthanasia when the person is suffering but unable to make decisions for themselves. If it’s an act of mercy to euthanize a pet who is suffering, then we should be able to have the same compassion for our fellow humans.

6·7 days agoThis. They just said AF1 is not as safe and secure as we’ve been told. Even if it’s not true and it’s actually more secure than we’re led to believe, his cowardice just put doubt in the minds of everyone, including the quickly growing list of enemies. And that doubt puts the aircraft and everyone on board in danger going forward.
Remember kids, be kind rewind!

1·7 days agoYep, my now ex-gf would regularly come into the bathroom to pee while I was in getting ready. I knew what mine sounded like and she definitely always had more force behind her stream.
Yep, if I really want cake I’ll pay the ridiculous price for a single slice. Yes it’s expensive, but it’s cheaper than buying a whole cake, and I know after that one piece I won’t want anymore for a long time.
Technology advances, something is cutting edge, then the standard, then outdated.
Yep, I never got the appeal.
I donated to st Jude for a while, every month I got mail multiple times a week asking for more money along with my “free gift”. Even talking into account buying supplies in bulk and using every conservative low-ball numbers I estimated I was getting around 60% of my donation back every month. I just gave up and stopped donating, and even sent them a letter telling them why I was ending my donation. I still get mail from them at least once a month and it’s been at least 15 years since I last donated.
They are doing something extremely important, but I don’t want my donation being thrown away like that. Send me a donation envelope once a month, that’s fine even though I was making my donation online, but the almost every other day mailing that was packed with notepads and return address labels? Nope I’m not fund that. On the plus side I haven’t bought return address labels since Obama was in office, and I doubt I’ll have to buy any until Chad who just graduated from DeVry, becomes our 64th president.
Yep, been on Linux for 10 or 12 years now, I honestly can’t remember. Distro hopped at first, then I found Mint and never saw a need to change.
Having done a short tour of duty in food service myself, I can only imagine how combining that with finance would work…try not to summon any demons. Oh don’t worry I approach everything on the Internet like statics, 79% of it is made up. Also I’d just like to say, while I admire the creativity behind the mutant lemur with a crack addiction story, I know a flew when I see one.

41·14 days agoI prefer the idea that there is no set number of justices, every president gets to appoint one judge per term. Obviously they should still be approved by the Senate. After the Senate approves the judge, that’s it, someone dies, to bad wait a few years for the next term or president. Sure we might end up with 20 justices if a bunch of young people are appointed but that just opens up the term limit conversation, and that would be great since lifetime appointments shouldn’t be a thing for any position.
Right there with you, diagnosed about 25 years ago and I’ve never heard of “visual exhaustion” even though I understood it from lived experience before I finished reading the comment.

I’m glad you can see the light on this issue, I live and work in a very conservative area and anytime I try to bring the business advantage argument up with the people around me they just fall back on “commie socialism” and “death panels” and then shut down on me. At this point I’m convinced even their God king trump couldn’t convince them it’s actually the better option…not that he would but you get what I’m saying.
