I actually use it for some PC, still missing a lot of features tho.
I actually use it for some PC, still missing a lot of features tho.
If this can run Clip Studio Paint, I’ll take it.
Krita and GIMP lacks too many advance features for comic creation.
As much as I want to move from them, Excel and Photoshop are too advance compared to any alternative, including both FOSS and commercial one.
Even Excel Online is not as advance as Excel desktop.
Casual users can get away from them, not advance user that needs unique feature only available in the software.

Read my comment again. “…no alternative available”
Believe me, there are a lot of users that their software needed for their job only works on Windows. It’s not even some Adobe, Office, or generic software that we often hear. These software is hyperly specific that you will only know if you do the job.
Moving to Linux without any actual software equivalent is basically asking them to abandon their jobs.

Software and games.
No matter some people claims, there are always software/games that simply won’t run on Linux or no alternative available.
He got backlash from his own fans from all edgy and toxic jokes. I remember some of his Indian fans are angry for his PewDiePie vs T-series stuff (T-series: Indian music company).
I think around 2019, he apologized and recognized all the edginess he did, and promised to do better.
For the last five years, all of his content are basically wholesome family stuff or creative activities. Even his recent art journey video are widely shared among young art communities that’s not even his fans.
I wonder if people that JavaScript is indirectly named from an ethnic group in Indonesia.
Javanese ethnic -> Java Island -> Javanese coffee -> Java programming language -> JavaScript
For an OS that you need to install manually, it’s definitely a lot.
I remember installing Uhuntu back in 2012 as middle schooler, and never encountering any error at all.
Technically you can, here’s this community looks like on Mastodon.
You can subscribe them manually via search.
I follow several Lemmy communities on my Masotodon and Misskey account.
They don’t need to get big like Meta or any Western social media.
They simply need to serve their targeted demography well to be able to survive. A lot of East Asian platform doing basically that, still alive even after a 15+ years.
Local social media is different from bigger social media platform.
Those big social media generally are American/Western-centric. Sure, you can find local community on them, but their moderation system are often still Western-centric.
You’ll surprised on how often other language being moderated (deleted/removed) because it mistaken as hate speech. For example, word that in certain language has neutral meaning, but mistaken as offensive in English.
Also, local social media often designed to local culture. Xiaohongshu and Plurk are the primary example. Entirely unique UI and user experience.
Even fediverse also this cultural-focused software. Take a look on Misskey (a Japanese-made fediverse software), it primarily designed for Japanese internet culture, which entirely different from Mastodon or Pleroma.
Even Misskey is allowing exact audio object type.
ActivityPub is not designed for real time chat and communication, I believe.
There’s Matrix and XMPP protocol, but upcoming MLS protocol (which backed Mozilla, The Matrix.org Foundation, even Meta) looks more complete, feature-wise.
Instead of yet another globally massive social media, I want to see regional social media that’s not massive globally, but popular in their country of origin. Or niche social media.
List so far:
Art general:
Design:
Hobby specific:
LibRate is WIP fediverse alternative for that.
It plans to supports film, books, games, and more. Basically one stop for every tracker.
Not a solution for most people, unfortunately…
