it’s hiergharghkchical!

Thank you very much for the pointers! There is so much info at different levels out there that it’s encouraging to get recommendations.
Gicen the risk of locking myself out (have been prone to do that even IRL) I may limit firewalling to times where I have physical access.
Reverse proxy sounds intriguing though. I’ve got a domain already, so just missing… well… the rest (:

Actually, I was wondering:
I have used tailscale, and lately netbird, for remote access and it has worked well for Jellyfin streaming, ssh/rsync and accessing other WebUIs. All with non-default passwords of course.
However I have not set up any of the internal network hardening like OPNSense, VLANs or ReverseProxy. Is it safe to configure these remotely or am I risking locking myself out?

This is such a nice overview. Thank you for sharing!
Why censor the author? :(
I was going to say shitgun, but it felt too on the nose. You sir/ma’m found the sweetspot [chef’s kiss]

Thank you for sharing the song, that was lovely.
Quick Markdown formatting tip: In most flavours you can add 2 spaces at the end of a line to force a line break. Then you can format your block quotes a little prettier without empty newlines:
oh fuck you
and your ai
fuck you elon, fuck you sam,
fuck you sundar pichai
you said the chance
that we all die is
around 1 in 5 – was that hype?
IANAL = I Am Not A Lawyer.
That’s a good point. However in the EU it should be the opposite - otherwise the site is violating GDPR.
Sometimes I have a feeling sites do whatever they want anyway regardless of bow many dark patterns I click through to find the “no” and “off” buttons because there are no real repercussions. Just like the “do not track” request and “robots.txt” are essentially useless.
Aah, you are right. Lazy me actually never looked at those. Now I did and it seems to work just fine enabling the Annoyances > Cookie Banners.

You’re right, that it doesn’t just work as conveniently out-of-the-box on Codeberg. However you do not have to self-host: You merely have to apply to get access to their hosted Woodpecker instance at ci.codeberg.org.
See docs here if you want to try it out: https://docs.codeberg.org/ci/
Onboarding requires a few manual steps, as to prevent the abuse of Codeberg’s limited resources. You will need to request access by filling out this form. After submitting, a Codeberg volunteer will review your request and grant you access if your use case is appropriate.
Edit: added quote from docs

codeberg.org (which runs on Forgejo) offers a nice ci solution: Woodpecker.
In my experience uBlock origin doesn’t really get rid of cookie consent banners/dark patterns. Damn good at bonking ads though.

what a terrible day to have eyes…
