ADHD@lemmy.world•Do you wish you hadn't gotten officially diagnosed ?English
1·11 hours agoIt’s stigmatized but if your country has any reasonable protections it shouldn’t actually be a problem. If you’re in doubt look them up and see what privacy and employment protections you have. Here in the US for example no employer has ever known I had adhd because I haven’t told them, and even if they knew it’s illegal to fire me for it without offering reasonable accommodations
Idk back when I was in college we fucked each other /s

2·18 hours agoI see less from old loved ones by not having it, but that’s ok, it makes catching up an activity. It’s fun to share the exciting things of the past year or two with my family and friends when I see them.
It’s the only place open after the bars close and the food is still remarkably cheap
And then you treat that lady right, you thank her for your hash browns and your 2am coffee, and you enjoy your evening because this was the best choice of the night
Weak. You sit there and know the waitress has stabbed someone before and if you’re pleasant to her you’ll be fine.
Fuck I miss waffle house. Used to go there after nights out all the time when I lived in their range

2·2 days agoThe Honda fit is the best urban car I’ve ever driven. Street parking? No problem. I can fit a bike in the back or put my rack on for two. It seats 5 just like an suv. Great milage. Sure I wish it was electric and had android auto but otherwise it’s amazing. Hell it handled a drive across the country stuffed completely full with stuff we didn’t want to risk in a shipping box

2·2 days agoExactly. If they were incentivised to encourage the best vehicle for the customer they’d be talking most people into a subcompact or minivan

Transfem@lemmy.blahaj.zone•An introduction and a thank youEnglish
2·2 days agoYeah those trans spaces are more for someone like you than someone like me (post transition). And yeah it really was this wild shift of thinking of such spaces as so scary to them turning out to be so welcoming. And eventually you just find your place in fellowship with other trans people.
The other thing is that knowing other people at a similar stage to yourself is hugely important. Someone my age who’s just now transitioning is going to have a wildly different entire experience from me given I transitioned at 20 in college, but also it’s long over. I remember the sleepless nights, the hormonal fights, the hope, and the dread and all that stuff, but it’s in the same way I remember being 16. Both groups need people who are there and people who had been there recently to thrive.
But yeah, you’re at the exciting and scary stage. Try to enjoy what you can of it, eventually being trans just becomes your normal.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•A maga person has just threatened my family, what's to do next?
10·2 days agoThe report number is very important. Cops want to brush off stuff that involves protecting people in my experience, buy having evidence of all this is vital if he starts stalking or something like that. He’s unlikely to escalate directly to shooting, but he is at risk of escalation
Back then I suspect the average person was a lot less likely to piss someone off who knew their name and was willing to target them
You know that bishop telling clergy to get their affairs in order and that the time for resistance is now? Yeah I’m pretty sure that guy is a real Christian, at least based on the words attributed to Jesus.

5·2 days agoWelcome sister. I understand how hard it is to step into the community and to actually embrace being one of us. May you find all the sisterhood and joy that I have.
Also I highly recommend that any trans people who are able should join some irl trans spaces, especially early on. It was so good for me back in the day and helped me so much. I fell out of them, most do, but they tend to be there mostly for folks early in transition

Transfem@lemmy.blahaj.zone•Men becoming violent with you for not wanting sex with them?English
21·2 days agoYeah, that’s just chasers. Some aren’t violent, but the well is full on poisoned. This is explicitly the reason why the standard advice has long been to never go for chasers no matter how lonely you are. There are cis men who are just pretty damn into trans chicks but aren’t chasers, you can learn to tell the difference, but if you go where the chasers are then you’re probably going to find a lot of them. Chasers are typically only or primarily interested in sex, they see our bodies through a fetishized lens, many are ashamed of their attraction to us, and they’re disproportionately violent.
