In a normal timeline any negatives for platforming a sex trafficker would out weight any expenses on this lawsuit, but it wouldn’t surprise me if they cave to pressure from Trump and settle for 10 million.

Had to look twice to check whether this was a screenshot of a Grand Theft Auto game.
If Republicans don’t like it they can get on board with efforts to stop gerrymandering everywhere. Glad we’re on the same page now!
I thought for sure I’d be able to follow OOP on Mastodon because surely he wouldn’t be enabling fascism by remaining on X…
EDIT: searching by name did it
I’m honestly confused about what you’re asserting here. For my daughter, they did a blood test on my wife in order to tell us that we’re having a daughter instead of a son. Doesn’t that mean that there IS in fact a genetic test that “reveals biological sex”?
Oh great, meat prices were already at all-time highs.
Definitely saving this for future use, but I don’t think pointing out that the DNC chair supports Mamdani makes this commenter a bootlicker.
Would be great if the AI bubble caused investments in the electric grid and renewable energy and then popped.
Yeah companies have always been abusing H1B, but it seems like only recently is it so hard for CS grads to find jobs. I didn’t have much trouble in 2010 and it was easy to hop jobs for me the last 10 years.
Now, not so much.
It makes me so mad that there are CS grads who can’t find work at the same time as companies are exploiting the H1B process saying “there aren’t enough applicants”. When are these companies going to be held accountable?
What the alternative?
I wonder why Trump thinks it’s so plausible that someone fudged the numbers to make it look like there was less crime 🤔
True… but if Trump had to contend with Democrat majorities in the house and Senate then he would have an incentive not to do illegal shit because he could be removed from office.
Hopefully the results is that everyone is concerned about gerrymandering instead of just Democrats and something can be done about it at the federal level.
No. The strategy can work perfectly fine both ways.
The entire point of gerrymandering is to make the geography irrelevant.
If you have a large, reliably blue city where 80 percent vote Democrat you can split that into districts that go 60 percent Democrat so that Democrats win more seats but by smaller margins…
If you wanted to gerrymander in favor of Republicans, you would fracture the city even more so that you disperse those Democrat voters over more districts.
I was actually thinking it would be sweet to train as an electrician as a backup to my software engineering job, since it’s something that seems interesting to me. However, it doesn’t really seem doable. It would be cool if there was some equivalent to a coding boot camp for trades.
It would be sweet if instead of college there was a four year program where you could be trained in the basics of plumbing, electric, carpentry, automotive, landscaping and do various internships (apprenticeships) then decide when you graduate what you want to do.
It’s bullshit for companies to lay people off and retain H1Bs. The government shouldn’t approve any new H1Bs for development positions until companies stop the layoffs and the amount of developers searching for work goes down significantly.
If we eliminate career politicians with term limits you can expect to see more celebrities, billionaires, CEOs etc running.
If you want normal people to run and you don’t want career politicians, elections need to be publicly funded and your job needs to be guaranteed when your term is done similar to maternity leave and military service. Otherwise who is going to throw their career away and go to Washington besides celebrities and people who are already rich?
They could be from the same state but picking a VP candidate from another part of the country is seen as one way to balance a ticket. They could pick someone from a swing state in the hopes it would help win that state, or try to balance out the ticket on the political spectrum by picking someone further left or right than the presidential candidate. In 2008 the Democrats balanced out the young black candidate with an old conservative white VP candidate, so there are other ways to balance a ticket.
What’s pissed me off the most in all this is the fascists getting on their high horse when the Democrats left the state. Acting like they were trying to accomplish some sort of good deed and the Democrats were preventing that. Just admit that this is naked voter suppression! They didn’t even have the decency to wait for a redistricting year.
