  • I don’t really care if this is real or not, or if the song sucks, or if it’s a banger, or if it never existed.

None of that is what’s concerning.

The concerning thing for me is that, even if it’s fake, everyone just kinda accepting that Tesla can, and would, remotely deactivate a vehicle, when it may be in motion, and may be in a dangerous or otherwise hazardous location where losing control could mean that people die…

And everyone is just like “that’s totally something they would do! Lol”… What?

I could give a fuck less if they deactivate his… Idk, heated seat subscription, or autopilot, or (insert stupid feature here). But making it so the vehicle can’t drive? For a car you paid money to “own”?

    What the actual fuck everyone?

Boycott. That’s all that I can say. … Not that I wasn’t already planning on doing that…

I came up with an analogy for vaccines that I’m thinking might actually penetrate the think skulls of some of these motherfuckers. If you agree, please feel free to use it… It goes like this:

When soldiers are preparing for their life in the service, what do they do? Stand around with their thumbs in their asses waiting for an enemy to attack? No. They train. They train day and night. They train until they have all of the maneuvers and tactics burned into their brains.

They use guns and tanks to defend.

So for defense, most would agree that the soldiers doing the fighting need two main things: training and equipment.

This is the same for your immune system. The equipment that your body needs to mount a good defence comes in the form of vitamins, minerals, and most importantly, calories to keep everything operating as good as it can.

Vaccines are the other side of that equation. They’re the training regimen for your immune system. It’s the practice run before going into a live-fire situation.

Vaccines, in and of themselves, can’t do shit to stop you from getting an infection, or a disease. That’s not what vaccines do. They only train the soldiers of your immune system to recognize and effectively attack the enemy. Without them, your immune system soldiers will take longer to react to a threat because it will simply take longer to recognise it and attack/eliminate it.

    That’s it.

  • Tipping, specifically in the original context of restaurants, I will still do, simply because the government needs to change the minimum wage so that servers are included. They’re currently a protected group that is allowed to be paid far less than minimum wage, and they are supposed to make up the difference in tips.

In every other context, wow me and I’ll tip you, otherwise, don’t expect shit.

If you did your job as you are expected to do, then I don’t see why I need to tip.

I know the OP’s legitimacy is in question, but, if my grandma got/made me a vest to wear “to parties” you’d never see me not wearing it. Regardless of what was on it.

The original poster was a filthy liar, so that invalidates any wholesomeness in the image, but you know.

  • I made peace with the fact that I’m never going to retire, and someone will find me deceased at my keyboard at work on a Monday, after perishing while working late on Friday.

I realized this a few years ago when I noticed that my wages were not keeping up with inflation, and I left the job I was at to find a better wage. I’ve struggled to get much more than I was in 2013/2014.

Combine that with all the debt I carry as a matter of requiring things for life, like a working vehicle… And me trying to repay that with any spare change laying around and getting nowhere, and not saving anything because I’m “trying to pay off my debts first” like an idiot… I’m now 42, with a $600k+ mortgage, and carrying upwards of $35k of other debts, on a treadmill that will never end, paying interest and never making meaningful progress on any principal.

By the time I get around to clearing my current debts (not even including the mortgage), and start to save to retire, my government pension plan will kick in, and I’ll be getting two paychecks. One from work, one from my “retirement” which hasn’t happened and won’t happen. Only after I’m getting two paychecks, do I think I have any chance in hell of paying all this shit off.

Right now, I’ll make some progress then shit will happen and drive me right back to where I started. Every fucking time.

I will consider retiring when my 25 year mortgage is paid off, when I’m 67, and my other debts are cleared, so that I can actually survive on the government pension I’ll get by then… Until then, I get to enrich shareholders through my generous donations to their wealth via interest, and dividends.

  • Yeah, when I saw this my first thought was: you mean the guy in a leadership position in a country where it’s legal and normal to literally sell your underaged daughters to middle aged men, was interacting with a known sex trafficker for underage girls? Shocking!

… But I don’t know enough about what’s happening in that country to know whether that specific thing is still legal/normal. Bluntly, I don’t really care. I care that young women are being put through that, I don’t care about the culture or the people in the culture that would participate in such activities. To me they’re all assholes.

  • My guess?

    anthropomorphism.

People are assigning thought and specifically intent to the replies that they get from ML and LLMs. They don’t realize that the model is essentially just an unchecked auto correct that uses the entirety of everything posted on the public Internet as it’s basis for what to reply to a prompt, the same way your phone tries to predict what word you want to say next based on what you’ve typed so far.

It’s just a lot bigger and more complex than the auto correct and word prediction that your phone has.

But that’s it. That’s all it does. It’s not thinking. It’s not intelligent. It has no intent. It cannot cognitively understand what it’s saying or doing.

Taking to “AI” is basically having the average of all Internet content as a basis for the reply. That means it’s going to make shit up, tell you to eat glue, and generally fuck around.

But most people seem to assign it human-like traits of reasoning and intent, when there isn’t any. CEOs included.
