My plan is to hopefully talk about Autism since she’s always bringing it up lol

I still live with my parents outside of college. I am passing all my classes currently but am doing my best to get my grades up in the ones I care about.
Sometimes I do need help, but I was always labeled as a kid for being “special ed,” so I’ve always avoided getting help now that I can make decisions for myself
I completely agree with you. I know lying isn’t a good thing but sometimes it does help me when I’m worried about something. The whole “dad wants a treat” thing was likely because it was Halloween lol, although my mom seems to lie to me too, saying stuff like, “your dad is coming up every weekend to clean your dorm” since it’s unorganized lol
I wouldn’t say that, my parents love me very much. But moving to college has helped with our relationship.
My parents are not abusive and actually are quite patient with me. But I agree with you about moving out. I’m currently in college and it helps to not talk to my parents every single day.
Thank you so much! Although my parents actually do favor me over my sister when it comes to my wants and stuff, but I 100% agree that my ambitions are more important than my GPA!
It can be hard sometimes, thank goodness for earplugs though!
Right, soft speaking stuff drives me crazy
I am the same way, I hate breathing sounds lol
I changed the process a little, but that was very helpful! Thank you!
I only eat with my family occasionally because I’m away at college lol. But thanks so much for understanding and offering suggestions!
For the most part I don’t eat with my family, as I am in college currently. But they make sure to nag me about using all my meal swipes/dining dollars lol. But I definitely learned that lying can get people to listen to me. Like telling my aunt I’m pre diabetic, since in a way I was telling the truth.
I completely agree with you! Making my family aware of this is my top priority. I can’t use your second or third suggestion because I have a very high metabolism and run 5-6 days a week lol. But I will definitely consider lying about eating beforehand! I’ve done it before and it helps a lot.
Your brother’s story seems very similar to mine. I get the same way, I want to eat normally, but sometimes I just can’t. My family and I do bond over board games and game shows which does help.
I’ve looked into that actually, I do have a pair of headphones that block about 30 decibels, they’re super helpful. I am always on the quest for new headphones though lol
I have, I used to wear them all the time when my Misophonia was at its worst, but I’ve got to the point where I don’t need to wear them as often. I do wear them sometimes though, unfortunately I didn’t have them on me this week

Marycat1@lemmy.zipOPto Autism@lemmy.world•Does anyone else use social stories for everything?5·16 days agoThank you! It really helps knowing there are people older than me with similar problems
I am the same way! My mom isn’t a narcissist but has a tendency to manipulate me to try and get me to feel bad and listen to her, it used to work, but now I just tell her that her pathos isn’t going to work on me lol
