1·3 years agoIt looks like someone posted a bunch of posts (all at once) to the !gundeals community. Its not ads, just an individual posting a bit too much.
JackFromWisconsin@midwest.socialtomain@midwest.social•Post Karma Does Matter on Lemmy, use your votes accordingly.English
1·3 years agoBoth. Downvotes aren’t taken into account for all beehaw posts and comments. Even if someone downvotes a beehaw post from another instance, it just won’t send.

0·3 years agoThis shit is why we need a Right to Privacy. Every person should have the right to be private from the eyes of the state. Our (American) constitution forbids the state from unwarranted search and seizure, quartering of troops, enacting or dictating religion, censoring your speech and expression, and stopping peaceful assemblies.
Instead of saying “Privacy is sacred”, we have a mess of individual rights, which when taken together, spell out a right to privacy. We need to fix this mess, because the bandaid of the courts can’t and won’t.
While we’re at it, ban SUVs and Light Trucks, by making a separate licence for them. If you need one for work? Or for personal use? Get a license that proves you know how to use one.
SUVs and Light trucks have done so much damage to our society: both by being dangerous as fuck, and in the insane amounts of pollution that emit. It’s about time the United States, and any other country that hasn’t yet, apply bandage to the wound. Slow the bleeding. Then the healing can begin.

Lemmy@lemmy.ml•Are communities server-specific? i.e, is the "Gaming" community on lemmy.ml different from the one on, say, beehaw.org?
3·3 years agoThat’s right. !Gaming@lemmy.ml is different from !Gaming@beehaw.org
Note that you can use your same account to subscribe to both of them, as one may be more active than the other. Feel free to pick one or both it doesn’t really matter. Different websites/servers have slightly different rules and different culture, so the posts and comments will be slightly different community to community.

Mastodon@lemmy.ml•Mastodon being useless to advertisers is one of the biggest selling points
1·3 years agoFeature, not a bug.
Big Advertising can be stopped simply by denying their existence in the first place. It’s time to get advertisers out of our digital lives.

I have never used amazon, much less paid for a subscription service for the pleasure of using it. I was hoping that the author atleast stopped using amazon alltogether. Ah well. Little victories I guess.
