Heyo! Just another random who’s moving over from centralized social media to the Fediverse. Mastodon wasn’t too bad but I love anything like Reddit!

Games, anime, Japanese, food, and music are my loves. Fanfic beats food tho, I can read for hours instead!

  • Unless Google approves them for SafetyNet and all their other stuff related to payment requirements (which they’re forcing apps to slowly meet those demands), GrapheneOS won’t be able to shit about it as they’re seen as a security risk (not running stock). This will always be an issue since Google isn’t gonna want to approve them anyway. So unfortunately you have to make the choice to give up Google wallet, but that’ll do wonders for your privacy!

  • I never understood it either. Like vanilla FF with some tweaks made it just as good (if not better) than Brave out of the box. We have Librewolf and Arkenfox too. Mull existed for Android, now we have Fennec and IronFox. I get that about:config can suck sometimes (I’m in a fight with it every month on IronFox 😅), but like follow a guide or two and you’ll have Brave without the crypto and blatantly allowing “whitelisted” sites to stalk you.

It’s just unnecessary at this point…

  • One of my banking apps worked, but 3 others didn’t.

Same issue, I just did web browser instead

    My 2FA app didn’t work.

I suggest just exporting and using a different 2FA app, especially an open source one like Aegis

I stopped receiving important texts as they were previously RCS and that refused to validate no matter what

RCS on GrapheneOS is very finicky and requires using AppOps to enable READ_DEVICE_IDENTIFIERS, and you have to let carrier services and google messages have more permissions to work. You also might have to deregister your previous phone to use the number (i.e. my old iPhone still had my number in the settings, had to remove it). There’s a very long GrapheneOS thread about it, but the link should be the solution.

  • Tech savvy enough. I do my damnedest to find a YT tutorial or forum post before I throw the towel in and make a help request somewhere. Like I literally will go hours before I finally concede and realize I can’t do something myself, and I act like my honor is forever lost whenever I go to Fedora forums in defeat. There are many out there who won’t even do that at the bare minimum, so you’re doing great. We’re doing great.
