  • Cursive is good for some people because arthritis, but most people do not use cursive aside from their signature.

I spent a good chunk of 1st and 2nd grade learning it so I can read it but it really did not teach me anything. It’s not like learning a new way of thinking, it’s just muscle memory and practice.

I’m not saying learning how to write is a waste of time, I write alot and while its typing now, I definitely needed to learn to use a pencil. But cursive is like learning how to type on a Devorak(?) keyboard

  • I think removing everything that kids have a bit of a hard time trying to grasp just teaches kids to give up if anything isn’t immediately apparent. Its not as much of a waste of time as cursive, and it’s to be taught to think in another way.

I think that kids “learning how to learn” is really important, especially with how these AI models are stunting like a whole generation of people.

This is minor, but I also think less things need electronic displays/components that are hard to recycle and increase dependency on exploiting X country for Y resource. Its also cool to just be able to build a physical mechanism which digital clocks have no real feasible option to do

  • I actually wanted a PS2 port because it works with interrupts rather than polling but they aren’t really included anymore.

I feel like they don’t make boards for people like me who want small boards with a super niche port.

When a MoDT Mini-ITX board comes out with a PS2 port I will buy that instantly

  • I get it and agree mostly. I definitely think socioeconomic classes are more of a defining/dividing line than a heritage you happen to share with someone.

Only <1% of any humans DNA differs, but I think a better point is that everyone is atleast 50th cousins or something (Granted if you share a heritage its much closer)

But also if you told someone like my girlfriend that race isn’t real she’d probably sock you. She’s experienced it and its very real to her.

When we started dating I would actually try to talk about how I don’t understand why she would side with someone solely because their skin was dark like hers and it would be a point of contention. She would literally associate with someone that objectively did something she thinks is reprehensible because of literally only that. She grew up very wealthy and never hurt anyone, guy on the news was someone in and out of prison who literally fired first on the guy that revived him with narcan–but they happen to have the same color of skin.

As a boy other Latinos would literally antagonize me for “acting white” because I would rather read during recess than play football/soccer–because being educated is associated with being white; we were the children of poor families with gangbangers as role models so we must obviously be destined for different things /s

I feel like a lot of racial issues are cultural and self-perpetuating. But my girlfriend in particular was the only black woman in a white conservative town, people would open doors for her friends and close it when it came to her, If I visit her hometown she doesn’t want to be out for long, etc. So I get why it is very important to her.

  • Female outfits are typically more interesting, like in GTA maybe it’s not as bad but I’m tired of every endgame male armor in rpgs of MMOs being a guy in a giant mountain of metal. It doesn’t look “badass” it looks stupid and bland. (On the flip side bikini armor is also stupid)

That and female voices are just more… appealing? Idk the science behind it but there’s a reason AI assistants are like 95% female voices.

  • One Way Heroics (Plus)

Made by a guy in Japan. Uses a custom engine and has really intricate rpg elements, super cool and I’m a huge fan. Basically you’re constantly moving right because a black fog is consuming the world and if you aren’t fast enough then it’ll consume you too. Kind of plays like a Roguelike, but runs can have the shorter objectives, or the really long ones.

    Granted it’s not perfect:

    • It was made by one guy so after a certain amount of time you kinda see most things, needs mods (which doesn’t exist) or more content.
    • You only get one stat per level-up, and if you get like “carryweight” five times in a row, then you kinda just got low-rolled and are weak-af
    • You can’t actually determine what biomes you end up in so sometimes you just get volcano 3 times in a row and it kinda sucks, it would be nice to see biomes up ahead and chart a course
    • There’s some “degen weeb” dialogue that’s funny about once and then kinda weird. (Characters simp hard af for you after your run if you get SSS rank in a category they rate you in, theres some “prefixes” that give alternate dialogue to npcs, so if you get a “Naughty” Dosey/Frida/Mila then all her dialogue is degenerate af for the rest of the run)

But I still love the game, and one of my first projects I plan on is making a hexagonal-grid version of the engine that would enable the above (gameplay) issues to be fixed, something might come out of it tbh.
