politics @lemmy.world•A Catholic hospital was sold. Reproductive care returned immediately.English
6·3 days agoFuck Catholic hospitals. They’re intentionally hard to avoid, and the care is always fucked. I say this as someone who unfortunately had to get two surgeries in a Catholic hospital. This was right after they were caught not caring about the literally oozing and damaged beds in the labor and delivery unit.

34·3 days agoThe only way a noncitizen could vote in WA state is if they literally steal or forge a ballot of a citizen. To register to vote, you already have to prove citizenship.
I know that’s not the point of what the DOJ is doing, but just had to say it.

Technology@lemmy.world•Elon Musk Is Charging Starlink Customers Gigantic Bogus Fees Because Its Network Is Being Crushed by “High Demand”English
11·6 days agoPublic utility district (although sometimes “people’s utility district”). Used for utilities like water lines, sewer lines, and fiber. Typically the cost is paid by a group of neighbors, an entire neighborhood, or it can be county wide as well. Usually also subsidized by the county, state, or federal government to help reduce cost.

Technology@lemmy.world•Elon Musk Is Charging Starlink Customers Gigantic Bogus Fees Because Its Network Is Being Crushed by “High Demand”English
21·5 days agoStarlink will enshittify like all other non-PUD ISPs. This article shows that, and it’s already begun to struggle with throughput and scaling it is becoming more and more of a challenge.
There is one alternative that has been shown to be better than anything else: PUD projects which treat internet access as a utility and not something to make more and more money off of. The FCC has rural grants for ISPs that serve rural areas, but instead of exclusively funding PUD projects, they keep giving money to big for-profit ISPs (like Starlink).
Starlink should be considered a band-aid and only something that you’d need when you were in a super rural area without other utilities. The solution is giving everyone with grid connections public fiber via PUDs.
I know we don’t live in a utopia where that will happen overnight, and we don’t have an FCC that gives a shit. But the FCC should not be giving a trillionaire taxpayer dollars for a half-baked, polluting, wasteful service that will ultimately do the same rugpull that other private ISPs have done.

Is there any timeline on 4.0? I figure it would also take awhile for 4.0-supported end devices to come out as well.
No problem with waiting if your network is stable. I’ve heard that the Conbee 2 is better than the Nortek combo I was using, so that makes sense.
To be clear, since I didn’t mention it in my post, my Zigbee net was mostly fine, just kind of sluggish if anything. My Z-Wave net is what needed the most help, for some reason. It was both sluggish and sometimes nodes would appear as “dead” and unavailable for awhile.
