  • be noted that steam added DRM in 2008 and DRM exist since '90s, one of the first companies to use it was Nintendo, before the 2000 the USA made the DMCA (i think?) 2001, 2003 and 2004 the EU also passed some law about copyright protection(and maybe DRM?) in the early and mid 2008 many companies before valve started to also use DRM (see Spore, assasin’s creed, etc etc) during the later 2008 and early 2009 DRM was also added by EA, Ubisoft and Atari, alonside Valve

    I think that story do help, but it’s not the only thing to prevent, it’s like saying “Wear a helmet when cycling so you don’t hurt yourself” of course wearing an helmet isn’t the only thing that you have to do on a bike;

    In this case with fascism we can see that fascism is being justified by religion which kinda influence how people see it aswell, then we add the international component - american media influences us - and then conservatism that never really left many european countries which usually also tend to end up in a fascist regime, conservative countries and parties will do everthing to win, even being fascist friends and that’s a sad reality

  • It is a web wrapper, you can even enable (but only if you want) vencord or equicord so i am sure it is a web wrapper, also, i just remembered that the first time i used it, it had like 90/100 mb of ram usage then i changed i did something in the settings and it went down to a steady 22mb, if i remember correctly i installed “OpenAsar DOM optimizer” shelter plugin (which you can use alongside vencord/equicord)

    Edit: just checked, it uses Tauri, so on linux you may have some problems like some lag

    I use discord quite heavily; the TOS violation and risk of ban has me a little risk averse when it comes to discord

    It’s actually hard to get banned for these things, mainly because discord don’t give a fuck and many are hard to detect, the thing that may ban you are API abuses but just stay away from those plugins and don’t touch experiments; I never got banned in 2 years of using mods and clients, and i did some crazy stuff

  • The @ is just a fancy a, so i don’t think it’s a good idea, generally i don’t think it’s a good idea to use any letter or symbol that doesn’t match at all our languages, it just feel to forced and most of those “solutions” include a group but exclude another big group: people with dyslexia, but also those with dysorthographia at times;

    My take is: we ditch one of the 2 genres and we have only one, or we add a thirdy one with a nicer sound than shit like -x, -ə or -u which is kinda hard tbh, maybe we can take a letter from some other alphabet?

  • The artwork and music is usually on the client side (and if it’s not, the programmers need to get good lmao) so it’s really not a problem

    But in many of these cases they’re saying open source it so volunteer group XYZ can host a server and keep the game alive

    open source refers to a computer program in which the source code is available to the general public for usage, modification from its original design, and publication of their version (fork) back to the community
    (copied 1:1 from wikipedia, i was too lazy to write it myself)

    So no, open source don’t mean that a specific group keeps the server game alive by hosting a server but that the server code is aviable to the public to do whatever they want;

    Another solution is making the code Source-available (like some companies already do: eg Mojang) or just distributing a copy of the server for people to use, without being open sourc
