I got worried seeing the headline, but this bill on the surface doesn’t seem that bad, it’d probably affect class 3 ebikes and maybe cargo ebikes though (are those sometimes over 100 pounds?). The guy who wrote the bill isn’t great and I’m worried the bill would have some unforseen consequences though.

I’m in the Twin Cities, I’m guessing the person you’re responding to is in a first or second ring suburb (and I’m not dismissing their experience for that - ICE never left Minnesota, they’re just operating in the suburbs now where it’s harder to build a response against them so they’re seeing some shit right now), but concealed carry permit requests are way up right now in the twin cities proper. People here are buying guns in response to the gestapo. I don’t know anyone personally who has purchased a firearm, but I’ve seen the local news articles about the phenomenon.

I enjoyed watching my brother play the first two and was actually really interested in the plot but I’m hesitant to go back and play them myself because I’ve at least somewhat seen through people talking about it how they’ve dragged the series out (not to mention the microtransactions they somehow managed to shoehorn in) and I’m almost certain that the wild stuff they set up in the first two games never pays off.

I’m not sure it’s legal to call them candy cigarettes though - I’ve always seen them called something else. Yup, it’s illegal to call them cigarettes in the US, and they vary in legality elsewhere.

I only ever see them for sale in places that sell old fashioned candy, I think their decline has to do with the fact they just don’t taste very good (in addition to the changing cultural opinions about cigarettes, but I bet they’ve declined even in places where a large percentage of adults still smoke).

I’m less worried about LLMs pushing products (although finding honest reviews of products has become more difficult with AI and astroturfing), it’s their use as propaganda tools for state actors and oligarchs pushing agendas that I’m most worried about. Uh, is skiing really that difficult? I grew up water skiing and the one time I’ve tried downhill snow skiing I joked that my water skiing would help. I fell once on a flat part trying to get back to the ski lift and stopping was a bit of a challenge but other than that… did I actually have a leg up as a beginner?
