Have you not tried the San Fernando Valley expansion pack for C:S2?

11·3 days agoConsulting, investment banking are examples of industries that would not be a good fit for unionisation.
B2B sales, as a profession, irrespective of the industry in which these sales processes occur is not a good fit for unionisation.

But then I realized that it would be pretty dull without ions. :)

28·3 days agoArguably the professional services industry (e.g. consulting, investment banking) isn’t a good fit for unionization. These aren’t verticals, but professions, but things like executive management and B2B sales also don’t seem like a good fit for unionization.
At the end of the day, in B2B sales all that matters is how much revenue you generate and it’s not like there is defined functional skillset for B2B sales that allows for “scale economies” in collective representation model.

174·3 days agoGood for them! While I don’t think unionization makes sense in all industries, game development is arguably a good fit for a collaborative approach to labour relations.
Complete tangent, but does anyone else find it strange that a gaming news site doesn’t use id Software in the headline? If you’re into video games, one would think you’ve heard about id Software; they basically created the modern FPS genre. That being said, I might be showing my age here and id Software was a much bigger deal (on a relative basis) in the 90s and 2000s.

Dungeons and Dragons@lemmy.world•The Temple of Elemental Evil, Troika's classic party‑based action focused D&D RPG, first released in 2003, is now available with updates on GOG and SteamEnglish
2·3 days agoI’ve actually never played D&D (it wasn’t really a thing in Eastern Europe), but it seems to be clearly inspired by the D&D setting.

9·4 days agoDidn’t see Krafton mentioned. I was hoping they were just the publisher and the studio was independent, but alas:
On 11 November 2022, South Korean video game publisher Krafton announced that it planned to acquire Neon Giant for an undisclosed amount - which was scheduled to begin on 14 December.

Games@lemmy.world•Over 19,000 games have released on Steam in 2025, with nearly half seeing fewer than 10 reviewsEnglish
20·4 days agoI don’t know if it’s true or not, but I’ve heard a rough proxy for modest success “above breakeven” in the indie sphere is 1,000+ reviews.
The chart doesn’t break out the 1,000+ review count band, but it looks like under 5% of the 19,000 games released in 2025 on Steam were even able to go above 500 review count.
The 1,000+ review count band as a measure of success does make sense in a back of the napkin kind of way.
Assuming 5% of buyers leave a review, that would be 20,000 in sales. At a net unit revenue of $10 (after Steam’s cut and the payment processor), that would be $200 K net revenue.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•'Rethinking the survival genre': In [Verdant, a] post-apocalyptic adventure, 'your body tells you what’s going on' instead of stamina and hunger metersEnglish
8·6 days agoI am big fan of abstract constructs (hunger/ thirst meter) in games. I am all for experimentation, but in terms of UI/UX, different for the sake of being different isn’t always a good (and I say this as a person who is opinionated about UI/UX and will simply not play games if they have a console UI).

1·8 days agoIf there is a UT2004 revival (say at least couple of hundred CCUs after the launch initial peak), I think there will be a “downstream” effect on mods.
Between the UT2004 revival and TF2 Classic, it looks I will be able to get back into FPS gaming (I do not like modern FPS releases).

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Planetbase 2 - Dev Update 03 [Overview of new buildings and updated mechanics for older buildings]English
2·8 days agoI think there is still a market for a “mid-core” type experience and honestly the core structure of Planetbase is very polished.
Even 10 years later, the game still has ~300 CCUs (so likely about 2K+ MAUs assuming an average session is 3-4 hours), a decent achievement for what is arguably a niche indie game:

3·9 days agoTbh I preferred their website more, gave me the option to read it at my own pace, and focus on the parts I care most about, not fiddle with forward and rewind on YT, and having to pause to look at the charts in more detail and peace from the cosntant commentary track.
That’s exactly why I prefer written articles, they are more concise and quicker to process. That being said, when I do watch GN videos I do find their sarcastic style to be entertaining.

27·9 days agoOh man, this is such good news.
UT99 is fine. I played it so much in the early 2000s, would put on Offspring albums while playing with bots; we had dialup and I couldn’t play with EU, let alone US. But UT2004 is IMO much better and allows for different styles of play.
I just hope the community will be big enough. A lot of the retro FPS games servers are dominated by people who have been playing for 20+ years and its difficult to get into them (even if you played the games a lot back in the day).

I don’t even mind ML generated art in certain contexts if there is disclosure.
I honestly couldn’t tell that from the video that the art is ML gen based and I feel like I have a relatively well developed sense for both LLM output and ML gen’d images.

What?
I do know that he provides PR cover for oligarch interests, perhaps in a genuine manner, but the fact remains.
